In the build-up to his UFC debut, Southampton ’s Mixed Marshal Arts king, Tom ‘Kong’ Watson, will be writing an exclusive blog for the Daily Echo detailing his preparation for the fight of his life.

The first one is below and Tom will be regularly updating his progress at dailyecho.co.uk/tomkongwatson .

So I arrived in Atlanta, Georgia last week to begin my last month of training before UFC Nottingham on September 29, 2012.

I am out here working with Brian Stann who is competing against my fellow Brit, Michael Bisping, the week before my fight at UFC 152 in Totonto.

We have a great camp out here, working all disciplines of Mixed Martial Arts every day, including Boxing, Kick-Boxing, Wrestling and of course Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu.

My weight is about right at 215lbs, and I feel right on track to hit the weight limit of 185lbs on September 28.

Over the next few weeks, I will be stepping up the intensity of my training to ensure I peak on fight night.

I have never been one for game plans going into a fight so I have not changed anything in particular for this camp, I will just continue training and be the best athlete I possibly can when I step into the Octagon at the Capital FM arena on fight night.
