SHOLING made it two pre-season wins out of two – with no goals conceded – at Fawley AFC last night.

They triumphed 2-0 and the added bonus was a welcome return to action for midfielder Jack Smith, who spent most of last season out injured.

It took the Boatmen just eight minutes to get their noses in front when Barry Mason beat the 'keeper at the second time of asking.

Fawley hit the crossbar in the second half, but Sholing made sure of victory six minutes from time when Jake Hoole’s well-struck 20-yarder was only half saved and Bradey Norton pounced on the rebound.

With East Cowes Vics having pulled out of tomorrow's (Friday's) scheduled friendly, Sholing's first team will now take on the development squad with a 7pm kick-off. Admission is free and the new tea bar will be open.

Next week is a busy one for Dave Diaper's Boatmen.

Tuesday’s Sydenhams Premier opener at Cowes Sports is followed by an eagerly-awaited FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at home to Alresford Town next Friday (August 4, 7.45pm).
