IT'S the most popular sport in the world - but there have been plenty of times other sports have crept into football.

Just last weekend a Saints steward used a wrestling move to stop a Liverpool fan getting on to the pitch.

And now the Daily Echo looks at the top 10 moments other sports appeared in football.

1. The Saints steward's Rock Bottom

We start with the most recent as a Saints steward uses a wrestling move to stop a Liverpool fan's celebrations.

2. Boris Johnson's rugby tackle

It was one of the most inconsequential football matches of all time -  a charity game between England and Germany's celebrities and legends. But try telling the now Mayor of London Boris Johnson there was no competitive edge...

3. Tim Cahill's boxing

The Australian midfielder's favourite goal celebration was to punch the living daylights out of the nearest corner flag. And he did it here on the biggest stage of all against the Netherlands in the 2014 World Cup.

4. Eric Cantona's kung-fu kick

Another infamous moment that saw Eric Cantona banned for eight months after attacking a Crystal Palace fan moments after he was sent off.

5. Craig Bellamy's golf swing

Just days after rumours broke out that Craig Bellamy had attacked a Liverpool teammate with a golf club, the Welsh striker was practicing his swing again - this time after scoring the winner against Barcelona.

6. Jurgen Klinsmann's diving

After receiving strong criticism for his 'diving' before even kicking a ball for Tottenham, Jurgen Klinsmann celebrated his first goal with a swan dive stright to the turf.

7. The fishing goal celebration

Stjarnan FC of Iceland have become something of a football darling over their celebrations - and this fishing one is up there with the best.

8. Kenwyne Jones' gymnastics

The Trinidad & Tobago striker likes to show off his aerial skills when scoring - as you can (sort of) see here when scoring for Saints against Barnsley.

9. Tadanari Lee's archery

Another former Saints striker highlights his sporting skills outside of football with an archery celebration following a goal in Japan.

10. The bowling celebration

Estonian side Nomme Kalju pull off that most difficult of team celebration - the ten-pin bowling strike.
