STUART Green weighed in with a hat-trick as Salisbury tightened their grip on second spot in the Evo-Stik South West.

The former Winchester City skipper hoisted his season’s tally to an impressive 25 goal in all competitions in yesterday's 5-1 home win over Slimbridge.

Watched by an excellent crowd of 631 at the Ray Mac, the Whites were ahead inside 11 minutes when Owen Howe netted for the eighth time since arriving in December.

Green got off the mark eight minutes later, tucking away Howe’s through ball, and George Colson headed home Lewis Benson’s corner to make it 3-0 at half-time.

Green netted his second - and Whites’ fourth - just past the hour with the best goal of the game, cutely firing home after a neat interchange with Benson.

A defensive mix-up allowed Kai Mahon to pull one back for Slimbridge on 81 minutes, but it was man-of-the-moment Green who had the last word, finishing from close-range for his 18th league goal of a prolific campaign.

It was a fruitful day too for Wimborne Town’s Toby Holmes.

He who scored four of the Magpies’ goals in a 5-0 Evo-Stik South West slaying of North Leigh, hoisting them up to fifth spot.

Jack Lovell was also on target for the Cuthbury crew.
