JOINT boss Fawzi Saadi was happy to be left out of pocket after cousin Nasim Meddah had spearheaded Bournemouth Poppies to a convincing 4-0 win over Sydenhams Premier strugglers Amesbury Town.

Meddah, nephew of former Wimborne Town ace Billy Meddah, plundered a hat-trick in the Victoria Park rout – and earned himself a nice cash windfall in the process.

“I said I would give him twenty quid if he scored a hat-trick.

“After he had got his second, I was hoping he wouldn’t get another one, but he did!” laughed Saadi.

“To be honest, I would happily give him twenty quid if he scored a hat-trick every game. I was really pleased for him."

Chris Speers scored ten minutes from time, completing a victory that saw Poppies climb to 11th ahead of tomorrow's trip to tenth-placed Shaftesbury.

BRENDON King was torn between contentment and frustration after seeing Hamworthy United register a 2-1 win over Shaftesbury at the County Ground.

Jamie Beasley’s deflected effort and an own goal helped the Hammers collect another three points in their quest for a highest ever finish in the Sydenhams Premier Division.

But, despite the win which saw them move five points clear of Sholing in third, boss King was not entirely thrilled by the performance.

“We were in control for most of the game but, while we won, we weren’t great,” he said.

“We should have scored three or four goals and then the game would have been over.

“But near the end we started to get lazy and sloppy and they got a goal (Martin Shroeder) which they deserved.”

The Hammers tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) visit Blackfield & Langley in the quarter-finals of the Sydenhams League Cup, but King’s attention primarily lies on their next league match.

“We are carrying a few knocks, so I’ll be focusing more on our game at Poppies on Saturday,” he said.
