IN true Christmas panto style, Blackfield & Langley have warned Sydenhams Premier leaders Andover Town: “We’re behind you!”
The second-placed Watersiders brought the house down at Gang Warily tonight with a thumping 6-0 win over Brockenhurst.
It was Blackfield’s fourth successive league win – all without conceding a goal – and narrowed the gap at the top to seven points.
Sam Griffin got the show on the road with a quickfire double in the 27th and 32nd minutes and Liam Robinson headed in a third shortly before half-time.
Blackfield doubled their tally in the last 15 minutes with Franklyn Clarke scoring twice, either side of sub Rico Wilson’s finish from Robinson’s cross.
Sholing moved third on goal difference from Lymington Town following a 1-0 victory at Newport IW.
The killer goal arrived on 52 minutes when sub Lee Wort’s shot span off a defender for Marvin McLean to bury from inside the six-yard box.
Wort smacked an effort against the crossbar eight minutes from time and then the Boatmen soaked up some late Newport pressure to secure the points.
Leaders Andover host Lymington Town on Saturday, Blackfield visit Horndean and Sholing hit the road to Baffins Milton Rovers.
