ANOTHER win in the FA Women’s Premier League over local rivals Southampton Saints G&LFC has helped make it ten out of ten for Southampton Women’s FC.

Promoted to the division from the Southern Region league at the start of 2017/18, they have won every game so far and sit top of the league on 30 points and only five goals against them all season.

Team Manager, Simon Parker, was recognised for the squad’s performance when he was awarded FAWPL Manager of the Month in December.

He is understandably pleased with the performance half way though the season.

“The squad have shown real resilience and stepped up well to play at this level,” he said.

“They are all playing for each other - we have 12 players who have scored so far which is a testament to their real squad mentality. The award is for all of us really not just for me”.

The opening game of 2018 was against local rivals Southampton Saints G&LFC, a hard fought match in which Southampton Women’s were 1-0 winners with a goal from top scorer Emma Pinner.

The team then took on St Nicholas Ladies FC, currently in tenth place in the FAWPL.

Southampton retained a high level of possession throughout the game, winning 4-0 with goals from Angel, Hellard, Pinner and defender Sophie Solloway. A fantastic performance from the St Nicks keeper stopped the score being higher, making a series of fine saves.

Looking forward, Southampton play away to AFC Bournemouth CST in the Hampshire FA Cup tomorrow, followed by a home match against Plymouth Argyle Ladies on January 28.

Southampton Women’s FC play their home games at AFC Totton. Details of fixtures can be found on their website southamptonwfc.co.uk
