A FASCINATING Hampshire Premier League title race saw the top three teams all win again.

Hamble Club are currently five points clear at the top having won 23 out of their 27 games so far.

The defending champions, 3-1 winners at home to Bush Hill, have already blasted 110 league goals – which is more than they managed from 34 games in 2014/15.

Despite that impressive run of form, they are not favourites to land a second successive league crown.

That is because Portsmouth-based Baffins Milton Rovers have three games in hand.

Baffins could afford to lose their home game against Hamble on April 9 and still win their second title in three seasons.

Rovers, 3-0 winners at Winchester Castle, have rattled up 22 wins from their 24 games to date.

There is a third team in the title race as well.

Otterbourne are nine points adrift of Hamble but have three games in hand.

They required an 85th minute penalty to beat Clanfield and record their 17th successive win in all competitions.

Hamble Club took the lead against Bush Hill in only the second minute through Doug Rowe.

Uphill struggle Bush were level within a minute, though, when Terry Parker netted direct from a free-kick.

The visitors were then reduced to nine men before half-time after red cards for Richard Bridle and Martin Randall.

Bush boss Eugene McManus, said: “We felt we were in control on the game up until that point, but going down to nine men meant we faced an uphill struggle.

“It would have been a great game had it not been for the red cards.”

Conor Rowe restored Hamble’s lead in the 67th minute, and Wayne O’Dell added a third four minutes later.

Baffins Milton kept up their relentless pursuit of Hamble with Brad Fairweather, Harry Potter and Danny Rimmer on target at Winchester Castle.

Otterbourne, however, didn’t have things all their own way at home to Clanfield.

Elliot Sills fired Clanfield ahead with Richard Luffman equalising on 40 minutes. Mitch Parker grabbed an 85th minute penalty winner.

The Otters have a huge match tonight in the semi finals of the Russell Cotes Cup. Having already dumped one Wessex Premier League club of the competition in Moneyfields, they now travel to face another – Graham Rix’s AFC Portchester.

Baffins Milton are also in midweek cup action. They take on Liss at Locks Heath on Wednesday in the Puma Engineering League Cup semi final.

The winners face Hamble Club in the final.
