ANDY Hessenthaler insists his Eastleigh team won’t worry about anybody but themselves heading into the last eight games of the National League season.

Following Saturday’s ill-deserved 3-1 defeat at Tranmere Rovers, just six points and a game in hand separate the Spitfires from Solihull Moors, who occupy the fourth relegation spot.

Based on the quality of Saturday’s performance at Prenton Park, Eastleigh shouldn’t have much to fret about.

Yet a bleak run of seven games without a win suggests otherwise and it is vital the Spitfires get something out of their next three fixtures -at home to Dover Athletic tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) and Ebbsfleet United on Good Friday (3pm) and away to Aldershot Town on Easter Monday (3pm).

Asked whether Eastleigh are looking nervously over their shoulders, Hessenthaler said: “We can’t worry about what other teams do. We know what we’ve got to do.

“We’ve got eight games left – eight tough games – and we’ve got to get back to winning ways and get ourselves over the line.”

Skipper Ryan Cresswell agreed: "I'm just thinking about ourselves. We can't worry about another football club.

"We need to go into the next game thinking positive and looking forward - and we need to get some results on board sharpish.

"It's great that games are coming up thick and fast because you haven't got time to dwell on things.

"We need to be solid, nullify opposition chances, get a lucky break and come away with a win."

Defenders Ayo Obileye (knee) and Gavin Hoyte (shoulder) both picked up injuries at Tranmere and could be touch and go for the visit of seventh-placed Dover.

Meanwhile striker James Constable has had his Poole Town loan extended to the end of the season.
