AFC TOTTON strutted up to third in the Evo-Stik South West with a second home triumph in the space of four glorious days.

After seeing off play-off rivals Bristol Manor Farm 3-1 on Saturday, Louis Langdown’s young Stags repeated the trick against Swindon Supermarine tonight.

The evening began with an impeccably observed minute’s silence for former Totton chairman Andy Straker who sadly passed away on Saturday.

And, once again, the Stags served up a performance that would have made him proud.

With six minutes gone, Tony Lee turned in Robin Nicholls’ cross for 1-0.

Bradley Hooper quickly levelled for Marine from 18 yards, but the Stags went in 2-1 up at the break thanks to a Curtis Young strike set up by Alfy Whittingham.

It remained that way until the 88th minute when former Eastleigh youngster Lee expertly held the ball up and set Charlie Gunson on his way to pick out the bottom corner.

HOLDERS Sholing have lost their grip on the Southampton Senior Cup.

Last night’s semi-final against Blackfield & Langley at Follands Park ended 0-0 after 90 minutes and went straight to penalties.

Just a week earlier Blackfield had been beaten by AFC Portchester in a penalty shootout in the semi-finals of the Sydenhams League Cup.

But the Watersiders – already through to the Hampshire FA Senior Cup final – made no mistake this time and can look forward to a second trip to St Mary’s after a 4-2 spot kick win.

Goalkeeper Brad Snelling was the hero of the hour for the Watersiders with a couple of key saves.

THERE were penalties too at Fawley AFC – and it was the Oilers who emerged triumphant in the quarter-finals of the Sydenhams League Cup.

The Division One outfit came through 90 goalless minutes against Hamble Club of the Premier Division before winning the shootout 5-4.

Fawley will now do battle with holders Sholing for the right to meet AFC Portchester in the final.

SALISBURY took an early lead through Kane O’Keefe in their Wiltshire Senior Cup semi-final against Highworth Town, but were dumped out 2-1.

MANNY Soetan was Andover Town’s hero for the second time in four days as the Sydenhams Premier leaders nicked a late 2-1 win at Bournemouth Poppies.

Soetan broke the deadlock with a 48th-minute opener – Town’s 100th league goal of the season, but Poppies’ Nasim Meddah swiftly snuffed it out.

A draw looked on the cards until Soetan – scorer of a six-minute hat-trick against Hamworthy on Saturday – grabbed an 89th-minute winner.

ROMSEY Town maintained their Sydenhams One promotion push with a crucial 1-0 home win over US Portsmouth - Craig Bryant the scorer.
