TEN years on and Nathaniel Sherborne is still banging in the goals for AFC Totton.

After plundering a hat-trick in the 4-0 Russell Cotes Cup quarter-final win at Fleet Town last week, the evergreen 34-year-old popped up with a stoppage-time leveller at Mangotsfield on Saturday to rescue an Evo-Stik South West point.

Plans are in the pipeline to honour the striker with a testimonial game later this year and manager Louis Langdown says it will be a fitting reward for the player affectionately known as ‘Sherbs’.

“Sherbs is a great lad and he’s due a testimonial,” he said..

“He’s scored 178 goals in 283 starts and 382 appearances in total for us. That’s not bad, is it?

“He’s still doing the business for Totton, scoring a goal every other game.

“With Tony Lee out suspended at Mangotsfield, we needed Sherbs involved and he didn’t let us down.

“That’s four goals in the last two games from him. He’s been excellent for us.”

Sherborne has been part of the furniture since 2007 when he joined Totton from Alton Town.

He scored for the Stags in their live televised FA Cup appearance against Bristol Rovers in 2011.

Prolonged spells of injury ruled him out of the 2012/13 season and a chunk of 2013/14, but he and the Stags have stuck together through thick and thin.

After a run of three unbeaten games on the road, Totton are back on their travels to Barnstaple Town in the league tomorrow evening (Tuesday, 7.45pm).
