Hampshire new boy Ryan Stevenson entertained guests with a Q & A session before presenting the awards to the winners of the four divisions – Southampton CC, Old Mutual Wealth, Southamptonshire and HCE CC – and the Harold Diaper Rose Bowl Trophy to BAT CC.

Also in attendance was Hampshire’s cricket secretary Tim Tremlett and Mayor of Southampton Linda Norris.

Silverware was also presented to the winners of the indoor leagues’s two divisions – Sarisbury A and Sarisbury B – and well as indoor cup winners OTs and Romsey CC.

The SECL’s outdoor league has lost several teams in recent years, including Ordnance Survey, the Royal Mail and Sarisbury.

But the much-loved competition remains a popular one on council pitches across the city, including Hoglands Park. Former in 1931, it is approaching its 85th anniversary and has been graced by the likes of former Hampshire players Robin Smith, Kevin Shine and Adie Aymes.

Saints legends Kevin Keegan, Ted Drake, Ted Bates and Jason Dodd have also played in the SECL down the years.

If you would like to join the 27 teams that contested last year’s competition (6.30pm starts on Tuesday evenings), contact SECL secretary Ian Meyer on ian3secl@btinternet.com or 07824379079.
