HAMPSHIRE have named a 13-man squad including academy star Tom Scriven and trialist Matt McKiernan, a Cumberland all-rounder, for their first home game of the year against Sussex, which starts tomorrow.

Both are expected to play along with the rest of the squad in the two-day friendly against a Sussex side beginning a new era under former Yorkshire head coach Jason Gillespie.

It will be Hampshire’s first game since the Caribbean 50, following the abandonments of two recent friendlies.

A fortnight after Kent called off a two-day friendly at Canterbury, Hampshire cancelled last week’s return match at the Ageas Bowl.

Sussex's squad includes former Hampshire star Danny Briggs.

The match is followed by a trip to Hove (March 29-30) and a home game against Middlesex (April 2-3).

Hampshire also have a three-day friendly against Cardiff MCCU from April 7 before beginning their season with a Specsavers County Championship match at home to Worcestershire on April 13.

Sam Northeast may be available later this week after making 23, 16 and 14 while captaining the South in their 2-1 defeat against the North in Barbados. HAMPSHIRE: Adams, Weatherley, Alsop, McManus, Wood, Berg, Dickinson, Taylor, Scriven, Hart, Salisbury, McKiernan, Organ.

SUSSEX: Brown, Barton (MCC Young Cricketers), Beer, Briggs, Burgess, Finch, Haines, Robinson, Sakande, Salt, Sheffield (Academy), Wells, Wright
