Golden Ring ABC wrote another chapter in their storied history as they had two sisters competing in the Nationals Finals for the first time – and came away with two famous victories.

Ruby Moss-Birch and her older sister Amber were both in action in Crawley representing the Southampton club.

Ruby, 12, attends Romsey School and big sister Amber, 13, who goes to Upper Shirley High, we competing in the Schools championships.

Amber was a beaten finalist last year and was determined not to come away from the K2 Centre in Crawley empty handed.

Not only did she win the National title but she has been selected to box for England in the Tri Nations.

She was up against Maddison Adkins from Reditch of the Midlands in the Class B (born 2005) under 67kg class.

Amber didn’t box at her best but managed to keep Adkins at the end of her jab and was always in control of the first round.

In the second and third Adkins knew she was playing catch up but Amber was able to keep catching her with some good shots giving her and the sisters an historic victory by way of a split decision.

Earlier on in the day Ruby took total control of her contest against Charlotte Brewer from Liverpool club Right Stuff in the Cadet U44kg class (born 2007).

Ruby was straight on the attack and from the start the Southampton ABC coaching staff, led by Stuart Gill, could see she was too strong for her opponent With two handed attacks and landing with some solid punches the ref was forced to give a count in Ruby’s favour.

Between rounds dad/coach Adam Birch was telling Ruby to keep the pace high as it was working. Ruby did exactly that and another count in the middle of the round forced the ref to call the bout off to confirm another piece of history for Golden Ring ABC.
