Southampton’s Leila Hargreaves fell just short at the National Female Junior 48-50kg Championships in Sheffield.
The Southampton ABC boxer impressed, winning every round in her semi-final to beat Phoenix ABC’s Courtney Swanton by a unanimous decision – getting revenge for two earlier defeats to the Warrington fighter.
However, Hargreaves was undone in the final against Millie O’Neil of Hull Saints ABC.
Head coach Gary White said: “She couldn’t reproduce the same performance of the previous day and lost out on a unanimous decision.
“It was frustrating because if she would have boxed anywhere near like she did on the Saturday she would have had a national title.
“Nonetheless she can proud of her efforts and will be better for the experience.”
