Shaun Brown was the highest local finisher in the Winchester 10k race.

The Winchester and District Athletics Club athlete was third in 35.37 behind Barnet & District AC winner Alexander Lepretre (33.00) and runner-up Jake Hughes (City of Plymouth AC) who finished in 35.06.

Southampton AC’s Matt Coffey was fourth in 35.47 with Aaron Froukhians (Totton RC) fifth in 35.53.

The race started outside Winchester Guildhall in the Broadway and headed up the High Street and along Jewry Street before heading out towards the village of Kings Worthy.

The return leg passed through the village of Headbourne Worthy and finished at Winchester City FC.

Participants received medals and t-shirts.

This was the 35th edition of the race organised by Offbeat.

Spencer Wakling, from Offbeat, said: “The event went very well; it didn’t rain and it was a very good race.

“We’ll be back next year.”

James White (Eastleigh RC) was eighth in 36:47, while clubmate James Johnson was tenth in 37:05.

Andrew Lewis (Eastleigh) was 11th in 37:13 while James Moore (Winchester & District AC) was 13th in 37:29.
