Adams reportedly closing in on move to Torino after Southampton exit

The Scotland international has previously been pictured in Italy amid rumours he was heading Il Toro.

Southampton boss Russell Martin has remained in contact with Adams this summer but admitted a deal to re-sign the 28 year old was "unlikely."

Martin felt Saints offered Adams a "brilliant contract" but stressed it was the striker's "prerogative to take his time and assess the situation."

Transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Adams is closing in on a move to Italy with the details now being sorted.

Torino, managed by Ivan Jurić, finished ninth in Seria A last season. Their squad currently boasts the likes of Colombian forward Duvan Zapata and Swiss international Ricardo Rodriguez. 

Adams scored 15 league goals for Southampton last season as they won promotion back to the Premier League.

He was also a part of Scotland's squad at the European Championship this summer, playing all three games as they were eliminated at the group stage.

Adams had previously been strongly linked with a move to Premier League side Wolves, but those rumours have cooled since they signed Jørgen Strand Larsen.
