Fareham Bowling Club welcomed 20 resident Chelsea Pensioners from the Royal Hospital for a friendly game of bowls.

This event, which took place on July 17 and was part of the club's Golden Anniversary celebrations, saw members lined up to welcome the esteemed guests.

The pensioners, synonymous with the UK's veteran community, reside at their London-based home, The Royal Hospital Chelsea, established over three centuries ago by King Charles II.

Rosemary Bailey, the Fareham Bowling Club president said: "We have all been looking forward to this day. We have had a number of fabulous events to mark our 50th Anniversary, games against Bowls Hampshire and Bowls England last month and a 24 hour Bowlathon to raise funds for the RNLI. Today is particularly special for us.

"We are very much looking forward to playing the match this afternoon and sitting down to a nice meal afterwards, to chat with the players and other visitors attending today. We couldn’t be more happier to welcome them."
