SAINTS forward Adam Armstrong admitted that everything will "go out of the window" in the Championship playoff final this weekend.

Southampton face Leeds United at Wembley Stadium in a bid to regain promotion to the Premier League.

Armstrong, who has the highest total of goals and assists across the top four divisions this season (36), will undoubtedly be key to achieving that goal.

The Geordie forward has already scored three times against Daniel Farke's side this season - including a goal earlier this month.

However, the 27 year old insisted the goals he has scored this season will count for nothing come Sunday.

He told the Daily Echo: “All of this goes out of the window. All of the league games go out of the window. All of my goals go out of the window. It’s all about the next game.

“We knew facing West Brom was going to be tough, but to win 3-1 against them in front of our fans, we have to enjoy those moments.

“We have said all year that we want to get promoted. We want to be involved in the biggest games. The playoff final is probably one of the biggest games in world football.

“We have got a chance to get back to the Premier League - the best league in the world. We will be raring to go.”

He added: "We’ve obviously played Leeds twice this season and done well, and we can only take confidence from that.

“The boys are going to recover over the next couple of days and get ready to go into a huge game – probably the biggest in football – and we’ve got to thrive off these moments.

“I said to the lads last week that these occasions might not come around again. The chance to play at Wembley is unbelievable, and it’ll be even better if we can do it.”
