FC HALIFAX thrashed Eastleigh 3-0 on the final day of the season to secure their National League playoff place.

Adan George put the visitors ahead after 27 minutes and they had a goal disallowed before Paul McCallum fired wide for Eastleigh shortly after the break.

Jamie Cooke’s composed finish doubled Halifax’s lead after 62 minutes before Max Wright added a third 20 minutes from time as Town ensured they finished ahead of Aldershot and Southend.

For Kelvin Davis and the Spitfires, the result guaranteed they finished 13th in the division, one point behind Hartlepool in 12th.

McCallum finished as the league's top scorer with 31 goals in 38 appearances, netting every 104 minutes throughout the season.

Eastleigh had won three on the spin away from home, each by a 1-0 scoreline, before heading back to the Silverlake to see off the season.

Saints hero Davis, who replaced Richard Hill as boss earlier this season, is on a contract that is set to expire this summer.

When appointed, Davis sought to secure Eastleigh's National League status before moving on to discuss plans for next season.
