KIERON Pollard, Smriti Mandhana, and Laurie Evans were among the big names to join Southern Brave at the Hundred draft on Wednesday.

In the women’s competition, Indian batter Smriti Mandhana was chosen with the Brave’s first pick - joining Danni Wyatt and Lauren Bell in Southampton.

West Indian Pollard and 36 year old Evans were selected by the Brave in the men's competition.

Naomi Dattani, Lauren Cheatle, Kalea Moore, Tilly Corteen-Coleman, Akeal Hosein, and Danny Briggs have also signed for Southern Brave. 

Elsewhere in The Hundred draft, Andre Russell and Meg Lanning went to London Spirit and Beth Mooney went to the Manchester Originals.

England's Dawid Malan, Tom Banton, Lauren Filer, and Ollie Pope were on the move, as well as overseas stars Ashleigh Gardner, Shaheen Afridi, and Chamari Athapaththu.

Nicholas Pooran was the first pick of the men's draft as he was selected by Andrew Flintoff's Northern Superchargers.

English wicket-keeper Amy Jones was chosen first by Birmingham Phoenix in the women's draft.

Southern Brave women's head coach, Charlotte Edwards said: “It’s amazing to have Smriti back and we’re really happy with our picks in today’s draft.

"We’ve had an amazing three years so far in The Hundred and winning the competition last year was really special.

"We can’t wait to play again in front of our fans and try to defend the trophy this summer.”

Each team will pick two additional players as their wildcard picks later this summer to complete their squads.

The opening game of The Hundred’s fourth year, sees Birmingham Phoenix travel to the Kia Oval on Tuesday, July 23 to face Oval Invincibles.

Southern Brave will begin their campaign with a double-header featuring the men's and women's sides against the London Spirit on Wednesday, July 24.
