HAMPSHIRE bowler Scott Currie has labelled his first Scotland international call-up as an "immensely proud moment".

Currie, who has been named in the squad along with his Hampshire teammate Brad Wheal, will be a part of Scotland's forthcoming tour of the UAE in February and March.

The tour will consist of four ICC Cricket World Cup League 2 fixtures against Canada and the UAE, followed by three T20 internationals against the UAE.

Two squads have been picked to compete across the multiple formats, with Currie and Wheal selected for the 50-over side.

He said: "It’s something I’ve had on my radar for a couple of years but the way the schedule is, I’ve never really had the opportunity to do it. It’s really exciting and I’m looking forward to it.

"If we do take the field together it will be an immensely proud moment for the family for sure.

"To go and test yourself against the world’s best – with ICC events being the pinnacle of that – it’s something that you never really know until you do it."

The 22 year old has featured regularly for Hampshire in white-ball cricket, taking 66 wickets across both formats in 43 games.
