SAINTS forward Adam Armstrong has been nominated for the PFA's Championship player of the month for the second consecutive month.

December saw Armstrong, 26, hit two goals and provide five assists across seven league games.

Southampton claimed 17 out of a possible 21 points last month and maintained their unbeaten run, which now sits at 19 games across all competitions.

Armstrong has been shortlisted alongside Leeds' Crysencio Summerville, Plymouth's Morgan Whittaker, Coventry's Tatsuhiro Sakamoto and Leicester duo Patson Daka and Stephy Mavididi.

The Geordie striker recorded the most goal involvements (seven) out of all six players listed for last month's award.

Armstrong has scored 13 goals for Southampton this season - the same number Whittaker has hit for Plymouth.

Only Blackburn's Sammie Szmodics has managed to score more (16), although, Armstrong is also the joint top assist maker with nine.
