SAINTS boss Russell Martin admits he enjoys football over the festive period, but pointed out that "it’s not that conducive to amazing games."
Saints are set to play four games in the space of 10 days, starting with QPR on Saturday before further fixtures against Swansea City, Plymouth and Norwich on New Year's Day.
Asked for his thoughts on the chaotic period of games on the horizon, Martin said: "I really enjoy the Christmas period in terms of games.
"It’s been my (whole) life with Boxing Day even as a kid. You always wanted to go to a game, whether it was a local game.
"I don’t think I’ve ever played on the 23rd before being that close to the Boxing Day game but everyone has to deal with it.
"I think we have got a really good squad. We have good depth so it’s going to be a busy period."
Martin continued: "We are going to need everyone for sure. I would argue that it’s not that conducive to amazing games of football by the time that fourth game comes around.
"We have fantastic facilities here, really good sports science and medical departments and we will try and take the best care we possibly can of the players.
"(We will) make sure they’re ready to perform in every single game. It’s one game at a time, we have a tough game on Saturday against a team that is looking very different to how they were before."
QPR have replaced manager Gareth Ainsworth, who was in charge when they lost 2-1 to Saints, with Spaniard Martí Cifuentes.
Since taking charge the 41 year old has earned 12 points from eight matches.
"They had some good results, and they look like they are starting to enjoy working with the new manager there," Martin added.
"It looks like the fans have got a good buy-in and everything like that. Loftus Road is a tough place to go as well. The pitch is tight and a bit smaller.
"We will be taking a lot of fans so it will be a good atmosphere. I’m really looking forward to this whole period. It’s going to hopefully be a good one for us."
