LEG spinner Nancy Harman has signed a new one-year contract with Southern Vipers, which sees her remain at the Ageas Bowl-based side until at least the end of the 2024 season.

The 24 year old started her career at Sussex before moving to the East Midlands where she played for Lightning in 2020 and 2021, before making the switch back down south for the 2022 season.

Harman made her debut for the club in May 2022 but was not awarded her first professional contract until the start of the 2023 season, when she and four others were awarded summer contracts.

She took her first wicket in Vipers colours at the Riverside when the Vipers completed a thrilling victory against Northern Diamonds on their way to an undefeated season in the Charlotte Edwards Cup.

In 2023, Harman once again starred against the Diamonds, smashing 32 not out from just 19 balls, as the Vipers posted 144-6 on their way to a 16 run victory in Leeds.

Speaking about the contract renewal, Harman said: “I am incredibly grateful to be signing on for another year at the Vipers.

"It is a brilliant environment to be a part of and I am surrounded by great teammates and staff. Hopefully I can contribute in an even bigger way to our domestic campaign next year.”

Regional director of women’s cricket, Adam Carty added: “Nancy has shown Viper qualities and character over the summer along with a match-winning mentality.

“We hope the 12-month extension will afford her the time she deserves to develop her skills that will see more match-winning contributions in orange and black.”

Harman has also represented Trent Rockets and London Spirit in the Hundred, playing three matches for the Rockets in 2021 and one for the Spirit in 2022.
