WEST Ham United are reportedly considering a fresh transfer offer for James Ward-Prowse having previously been described as 'walking away' from a deal.

Saints rejected an initial opening offer for the midfielder after it fell way below their valuation last week, director of football Jason Wilcox confirmed.

The Europa League Hammers returned with a second bid but this too is said to have been rejected, as first reported by The Sun.

Sky Sports reported that a deal to see Ward-Prowse move to London Stadium was edging closer but then just one hour later reported that it had totally collapsed.

They detail that David Moyes’s side do not believe the England international, who scored 19 goals across his last two seasons in the Premier League, is worth the price tag.

The report adds that West Ham will now consider other midfield options – however, a contradictory report in The Times says there is still an expectation for a deal to happen.

Since then, The Athletic reported that West Ham are considering another bid after their £30million total offer was rejected - Saints are said to be holding out for £40million.

Wilcox, leading on transfers while manager Russell Martin’s primary role is to coach the playing squad, has revealed that Saints are not in a position where they must sell.

Ward-Prowse has three years left on a contract signed to ward off interest from Aston Villa in 2021, following a £25million bid.
