FORMER England international Steve McManaman has given his verdict on Romeo Lavia, amid Liverpool’s interest in the youngster.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are said to be monitoring the 19 year old Belgian as a potential midfield replacement.
Liverpool midfielders Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are both the subject of reported interest from the lucrative Saudi Pro League.
Speaking to Betfred the two-time Champions League winner revealed his opinion on the potential transfer.
He said: “Hypothetically if Fabinho and Jordan Henderson both leave, you’re not going to get the same level of quality from Romeo [Lavia] as he is still a young kid.

“However, I don’t believe it will be risky as Liverpool still have enough midfielders already at the club, but it goes without saying that Romeo won’t provide the same level of quality and experience.
“But if only one of them leaves and another midfielder comes in, then I don't think they'll be leaving themselves short at all.”

Lavia played became a key player during his first season at Saints, which has seen him draw the interest of England’s top clubs.
Southampton are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of £50 million, something Liverpool have been unwilling to pay so far.
Arsenal and Chelsea also have previously expressed their interest in the former Manchester City prospect.
His former club Manchester City inserted a £40 million buy-back clause – which becomes active next summer – in the deal which saw him arrive at St Mary’s last summer.
McManaman played 364 times for Liverpool, during a playing career which also saw him turn out for Real Madrid and Manchester City, before becoming a pundit.
