SAINTS' 1-0 win over former champions Manchester City on Sunday became the most-watched Premier League game ever.
An audience of 5.7 million people switched on the BBC to watch the St Mary's tie.
And they were able to witness Ralph Hasenhuttl's side's shock win over Pep Guardiola's all-star team.
Che Adams' belter from long range was enough to whet the appetite of the viewers
Steve Rudge, BBC lead executive, football, said: "Having the Premier League has been great for our viewers.
"We were delighted to deliver this game to the widest free-to-air audience."
