Tadley Hockey men’s team made sure they were crowned Hampshire Hockey League Division Seven champions as they beat Alton IV 12-0, writes ROBERT RAND.
The destination of the Division Seven title was still up for grabs going into the game, with Havant still in with a mathematical chance of snatching the championship.
Having dealt with selection headaches, skipper, Paul Bourne outlined an attacking formation that stretched an under resourced Alton team.
The traffic was pretty much one way in the first half, with Tadley converting eight chances before the break and four more after it to win 12-0.
Alan David Duncan managed to finish that game with six goals, which took him to draw level with Steve Lowther for the highest tally of goals for the season.
Richard Barnes, Jonny Steward and Steve Hamilton-Shaw were the other players to notch.
Celebrations of the division title went on all afternoon and into the night, where the awards for the season were announced.
The aforementioned Duncan and Lowther claimed several of the gongs. Graham Fisher won rookie of the season, along with James Tanner taking home the award for introspective play.
Tadley now look forward in Division Six next season.
