EX-SAINTS flop Dani Osvaldo has played his first game of football in four years.

Osvaldo had his contract terminated by Boca Juniors in 2016 and then started to focus on forging a successful music career with his band Barrio Viejo.

He joined Saints back in 2013 for just under £13m but it proved to be a nightmare acquisition for the club.

The Argentinian made just 13 appearances, scoring three times, before his contract was terminated in 2015.

During his time on the south coast, Osvaldo had a training ground bust-up with Jose Fonte, leaving the former captain with facial injuries.

Saints sent him out on loan to Italian sides Juventus and Inter Milan, before tearing up his deal just two years after he signed.

He spent a year at Porto before joining Boca Juniors in 2016, however, after falling out with the head coach, his time in Argentina ended prematurely.

This led to him focusing on his music career, as well as a stint on Italy's version of Strictly Come Dancing, where he came third.

But he's now returned to football and has signed for Argentinian side Banfield on a one-year deal.

The 34-year-old made his debut against River Plate and forced the goalkeeper into making a good save from his 30-yard strike.

Speaking to Banfield's official website, former Saint Osvaldo said: “I am very happy. In Banfield, they treat me very well and make me feel important.”
