JAKE Vokins was on target to help Saints' Under-23s return to winning ways against Nottingham Forest.

With Radhi Jaidi jetting off for a new role in America, his former assistant coach David Horseman took charge of the youngsters.

Goals from Kornelius Hansen, Vokins and Christoph Klarer rounded off an impressive display.

Hansen opened the scoring after just 18 minutes with a fine solo effort finding the bottom corner.

However, Forest's Alex Mighten brought his side level when he took advantage of a defensive error.

But the second half saw Saints take the ascendancy and punish the visitors.

Vokins, who featured heavily for the first team during pre-season, restored the south coast side's lead shortly after the interval.

His teasing cross caused havoc in the Forest box and was deflected in.

The two teams continued to go in search of goals, with Saints coming close when Hansen forced a solid save from inside the box.

Horseman's outfit didn't have to wait much longer to seal the win thanks to Klarer.

The defender headed in from a corner to round off a tidy display.
