Fraser Forster has spoken of his pride at making his 200th appearance for Celtic.

The Saints goalkeeper reached the milestone in the 2-0 defeat to Livingston, which was his sixth game for the club since rejoining on loan in August.

He told celticfc.net: “I’ve never set out to play a certain number of games, but when you tick them off and someone tells you that was your 200th game or your 100th clean-sheet, you’re always taken back a bit.

"It’s great to make that many appearances for a club like this, and hopefully there’s many more to come.

“If you’re making that many appearances for a big club like Celtic you’re definitely doing something right and it’s a great achievement in and of itself.

"You always need to deliver on the pitch and on the training ground. That’s always the main focus.

“The milestones aren’t something you think about until they’re ticked off, so it’s nice to take a minute to appreciate them.”

Meanwhile, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson is surprised Saints agreed to let Forster return to Parkhead.

“If the manager can get him back to playing his best football, yes it’s a cracking signing,” ex-Tottenham and Leeds United keeper Robinson told Football Insider

“It was a really strange one for me at Southampton, he signed a new five-year deal and then never played again after a couple of weeks after that.

"There was clearly an issue there, what that issue was we don’t know, his dip in form, but to go from somebody having the level of ability and to play how he did, getting into the England squad, and then all of a sudden to go on the bench and then go missing and not have any drive to get back into playing is a surprise.”
