Eastleigh suffered their third straight away day defeat this season as they were beaten 2-0 at Stockport.

Adam Thomas opened the scoring just before the hour mark before Elliot Osborne’s long range strike seven minutes from time ensured the Spitfires left Edgeley Park empty handed.

Eastleigh boss Ben Strevens said: “It was pretty even up until the first goal and it was a poor goal for us to give away.

“We were punished for not taking our chances at one end and as in the last couple of games as well lapses in concertation at crucial times and then the goal went in.

“The second one I want to see back again but it seemed a poor one for us to give away. An unbelievable strike for the lad but my first thought on it was that we could have not conceded the second one.

“It was a close game but a game we lost and that’s all that matters.”

After a frantic opening to the campaign Eastleigh now have a full week to regroup before welcoming Dagenham & Redbridge to the Silverlake on Saturday.

“Every week is a big week. It’s hard to go in between games and there are a lot of games in this period which everyone in this league is dealing with,” explained Strevens.

“We have a week now and more important than what we do on the training ground is getting some bodies back. Greener played not fully fit and Rob failed a fitness test before the game and Reda is not fit either.

“Hopefully this week as well as being on the training pitch we get some of the boys back together and next Saturday we come out not struggling with how the boys are feeling. That’s what I’m hoping.”
