SAINTS veteran Maya Yoshida has hailed the club's short pre-season trip to China.
Ralph Hasenhuttl's side hit the back of the net four times without response from Guangzhou.
Che Adams, Shane Long, Yan Valery and Christoph Klarer were all on the scoresheet in the rout.
And Yoshida, who captained the side in the win, told Saints' official website how difficult the conditions were in Macau.
He said: “It was really tough.
“We arrived on Monday so we had a very short preparation time. The temperature and the humidity was madness to be honest.
“I think we showed a good performance, especially in the first half. Not high intensity but sometimes we controlled the game and managed the game very well.
“We scored a lot of goals so I’m happy for the result and the performance we showed, especially young players showed their quality and desire to the manager.
“It’s been a great experience and it’s good for the young players. It’s good for the club as the Asian football market is getting huge now, especially in China.
“People recognise Southampton much more than they did five years ago so it’s a good step for our football future.”
