Newton headed against the bar before giving Saints a 15th-minute lead after Georgie Freeland’s cross-shot was saved, following Phoebe Williams’ excellent pass.
She soon doubled the lead with her 30th goal of the season, from a cross by right-back Ella Morris, who netted the third.
Shannon Sievwright hit the post and had an excellent shot tipped over midway through the second half.
Sub Alisha Ware was denied by a spectacular save before Freeland curled in a 76th-minute left-footer.
Having replaced Newton, Wernham flicked in a left-flank cross from captain Shelly Provan before Chaffe scored two late goals.
She fired a left-footer inside the far post after excellent work from Williams before converting a Caitlin Morris cross in stoppage time.
Wernham then raced through to score the eighth.
