Saints’ PL2 Division 2 title hopes will go to the last game of the season after they drew 1-1 at West Brom.
Victory would have seen Radhi Jaidi’s team go two points clear at the top of the table and within touching distance of the title.
But a draw leaves Saints level on 40 points with Reading and Wolves. Saints host Sunderland in the season finale on April 29.
Will Smallbone gave Saints the lead from the penalty spot three minutes into the second half but Morgan Rogers levelled things up on 76 minutes for West Brom.
