Ahead of the upcoming Premier League match with Cardiff, Saints fan Courtney White, 18, places herself In the Dugout.
How long have you been a Saints fan?
I’ve been a Saints fan for all of my life, but I have only had a season ticket since 2013.
What are your thoughts going into the match with Cardiff?
For me personally, there’s going to be more emotional involvement in this game given the terrible disappearance and, subsequent, passing of Emiliano Sala.
However, we have to go into the game with confidence that we do have the ability to do this and get a very much needed three points against Cardiff City.
How do you assess the academy graduates Hasenhuttl is playing?
I personally think the academy players are adapting well to Ralph’s new style of play.
The player that has impressed me the most would have to be Callum Slattery, even though he’s only played a few games for us, he is growing with confidence in every match.
How would you set the side up this weekend?
I would play the side up in a 3-5-2 formation as I feel that’s the system would suit us best to get a quick start against the Bluebirds.
Saints: Gunn, Valery, Bednarek, Stephens, Vestergaard, Targett, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Armstrong, Redmond, Austin.
Which Saints player is it a big game for and why?
I personally think it’s a big game for Alex McCarthy in goal.
Serious questions are being asked about his position in the number one shirt because of the recent performances from Angus Gunn.
I think he’s slowly breathing down McCarthy’s neck because why would we pay all that money for a goalkeeper to sit on the bench and only play him in certain games?
