Cardiff manager Neil Warnock on Southampton

Saints are two points clear of Cardiff in the table, but a defeat to the Welsh side at the weekend could see them fall back into the relegation zone. 

Warnock told WalesOnline: "We'll still be big favourites to go down, but I'm looking forward to going down to Southampton.

"They'll expect to turn us over, but I think we've got a great chance of getting a result.

"We'll take another massive following down there and the pressure will all be on them, with the atmosphere."

It was reported in the week that Warnock was on the verge of quitting Cardiff, following the tragic news concerning the club’s record signing Emiliano Sala.

Sala was travelling to Cardiff from Nantes when the plane he was on disappeared over the English Channel.

A privately funded search team have since found the missing aircraft and are now attempting to recover a body from the wreckage.

However, at this stage, it’s not yet known whose body it is.

The emotional toll of the dreadful situation was clear for all to see when Warnock spoke to the media after his side’s 2-0 victory over Bournemouth last Saturday.

But, despite this, the 70-year-old revealed that he is still up for the relegation dogfight and insists he won’t be leaving the club.

He added: "Over the past few weeks, there have been times when I thought 'is it worth it, being a football manager after all that's happened?'

"It has been the worst time in my career really with the tragedy.

"The ups and downs have been unbelievable, but it's a big job that's just got bigger and I'm relishing it. 

"Rest assured, I am shattered — it's a tiring job — but I'm enjoying it.

"We've just had our two best performances of the season, why would I stop now?

"We've got to give everything with this close-knit group of lads and treasure every result."

Warnock then proclaimed it would be the highlight of his career if he manages to keep the Bluebirds up: "It's hard sometimes travelling back from places like Newcastle and especially Arsenal when I thought we should have got a result. 

"But that's because I love football and I love to win.

"I've spoken to Mehmet and Vincent (Tan) and they know I'm desperate to do this, it would be the biggest achievement of my career."
