FORMER Saints striker Matt Paterson has rejoined non-League outfit Havant & Waterlooville.

The 29-year-old helped Havant to the Isthmian League title, but left following promotion to the National League South.

Spells at Oxford City and Welling followed and now he’s back to help the Hawks battle for National League survival.

“It’s brilliant to be back, I’ve missed my time not being here over the last couple of seasons,” he told the H& W website.

“The lads have done well over the past couple of seasons and, when the opportunity arose, I was more than happy to be back at the club again.”

Born in Scotland, Paterson went to school in Fareham and became a Saints scholar in 2007.

He made his first-team debut as a sub against Norwich City at St Mary’s in September 2008, the first of 22 first-team appearances.
