SAINTS duo Jake Hesketh and Jake Flannigan have returned to the club with injuries after their four months on loan at Burton Albion.
Both players signed loan deals until January 2 but will now receive treatment from Saints' medical staff.
Midfielder Hesketh, who suffered a hamstring injury in a 3-1 win against Wycombe on Boxing Day, scored three goals in 23 appearances for Burton - Carabao Cup winners against Nottingham Forest and Middlesbrough after his maiden league goal in a 2-2 draw at Pompey.
Right-back Flannigan made his one appearance for Burton in the Checkatrade Trophy in September.
Burton boss Nigel Clough told burtonalbionfc.co.uk: “Both players have gone back to Southampton as they currently have injuries.
“It’s unfortunate for Jake Hesketh that his has come at this particular time, and we’ll be monitoring his situation going forward.”
