MOI Elyounoussi admitted he is still getting to grips with the managerial change at Saints.

The winger was bought by the club to be Dusan Tadic’s replacement in the summer but has struggled to make his mark in the red and white shirt.

Elyounoussi had the challenge of adapting to the physicality of the Premier League, Mark Hughes’ management style and now Ralph Hasenhuttl’s methods.

“I’ve never experienced that before,” revealed the winger.

“The new manager has been good, and his plans and ideas are really good.

“We have started well since he came in and it’s all about taking steps in our development at this early stage.

“I’ve been training really hard, but what’s been frustrating is the injuries I’ve had.

“I’ve never had them before, so to get them now when a new manager comes in is really disappointing.

“It’s all about training to get better and then taking your chances when you get them.

“There are a lot of games, so we haven’t had much time to train what he wants. He wants us to always be compact.”

Saints managed to get a brief foothold of the game during the loss to Man City on Sunday with Elyounoussi putting the ball on a plate for Charlie Austin in the opening exchanges.

And despite the defeat, the Norwegian international thinks Saints will stand a chance of getting a result at Chelsea if they play with the same style, but this time without the simple errors.

“Chelsea are good at home, so we need to run for each other, fight for each other and take our chances.

“I think we have to play similar to what we did against Man City but without the mistakes. We need to be compact and aggressive on the counter attack - these sort of things.”
