AFC TOTTON added a new face to their squad ahead of tonight’s 1-1 draw with Winchester City in the Evo-Stik Division One South, welcoming in winger Flavio Tavares from Salisbury.

The 23-year-old, previously on the books of Tonbridge Angels and Hayes & Yeading, went on as a 67th-minute substitute at the Testwood Stadium where honours ended even in front of a 362 crowd.

Totton goalkeeper Adam Siviter who, along with midfielder Ben McLean, has had his loan from Birmingham City extended until the end of November, made a couple of terrific first-half stops.

But Winchester went in a goal to the good at half-time thanks to a 36th-minute Oli Bailey strike.

Totton’s Connor York had a late first-half header cleared off the line and the Stags came out strongly after the break.

Their pressure paid off on the hour with a top-drawer equaliser from ex-Winchester marksman Craig Feeney whose left-foot volley found the top corner.

Blackfield & Langley blew the chance to go top of the table, beaten 2-1 at home by Moneyfields.

The Portsmouth visitors struck at either end of the first-half, with Felipe Barcelos the architect of both goals. First the Brazilian’s corner was met with a bullet head by Dan Wooden and then he teed up Steve Hutchings for a far-post finish.

Ade Olumuyiwa hit back in stoppage time at the end of the game, but it was too little too late for the Watersiders who slipped to their second league defeat.

Cup specialists AFC Stoneham were up to their old giant-killing tricks again, knocking Lymington Town out of the Southampton Senior Cup 3-0 at The Sports Ground.

Joe Sutherden, Josh Clarke and Eduardo Jiminez dealt a trio of first-half blows to Lymo, who had Charlie Willett sent off after the break.

Next up for Tim Cole’s Purples is a trip to Hamble Club in the last 16.

In the Sydenhams League Cup, holders AFC Portchester saw off Cowes Sports 3-1 despite playing the second half with ten men, while US Portsmouth pulverised Petersfield Town 7-1.
