ALRESFORD Town pulled in a pleasing 190-strong crowd for their FA Vase tie at home to Abingdon United - and sent supporters home happy.

Sam Burt's first-half goal was enough to secure the Magpies a 1-0 first-round victory on Non-League Day at Arlebury Park.

Hailing it "a great win against a good side", manager Richard Luffman said: "They are well coached and caused us problems with their movement in the first 20.

"Funnily enough, we scored in that spell and then couldn't add to our tally when we were the better team. We need to finish sides when we have chances."

Alfie Lis fired Horndean through 1-0 at Eversley & California, while Bournemouth Poppies blitzed Newquay AFC 6-0 through Steve Flynn (3), Mickey Finch, Ali Zintany and man-of-the-match Charlie Langston.

It was a pleasing afternoon too for Brockenhurst who progressed 3-1 at Longwell Green Sports courtesy of Matt Burt, Jude Nwachukwu and teenage talent Leon Carbayo-Borges.
