BASHLEY, weakened by injury and absence, were no match for Baffins Milton Rovers in Saturday's 2-1 FA Vase exit at Bashley Road.

The black and golds were under pressure from the off with keeper Jason Collins intercepting a sharp, downward header from Jason Parish.

Against the run of play, it was the Foresters who took the lead when the fast-improving Cameron Beard latched onto a high, bouncing ball and nodded it over Rovers' keeper Tony Male into the empty net.

Bash, already playing with a stitched-together defence - with 19-year old Dylan Manufor playing his first home game at this level and front-runner Hugh Dathan deputising at centre-back - then lost experienced wing-back Jack Smith to an ankle injury.

Minutes later, they conceded a penalty which was netted by Rovers’ captain Ashton Leigh despite Collins guessing the right way.

Bash felt they should have had a spot kick of their own when Male appeared to tug Harry Morgan's shirt as he burst into the area.

But it wasn't given and, with Bash losing concentration, they were caught on the break as Rob Taw headed home from an acute angle to settle this all-Sydenhams Premier clash.

Fareham Town also reached the end of the Vase road, beaten 3-0 at AFC Croydon Athletic. They trailed 1-0 at the break and, as they chased the game, conceded twice in the dying minutes.

The all-Sydenhams Premier tie at Shaftesbury ended 2-1 in Hamworthy United's favour.

The Hammers, who have signed defender Mark Jamieson from Poole Town, hit back through Sean Wright and sub Dan Cann after Gary Bowles had put Shaftesbury ahead.

AFC Stoneham never quite recovered from conceding two first-half Danny O'Hagan goals at Bodmin Town.

Chris Manning pulled one back for the Purples, but Bodmin held on despite being reduced to ten men late on.

For Sydenhams One high-fliers Stoneham, it's time to concentrate on a promotion push after their FA Cup and Vase adventures.

"It's been a fantastic six weeks. Now time to focus on the league," they tweeted.

Totton & Eling fought like tigers at Cheddar, eventually succumbing to an Adam Jones header in the second half of extra-time after a 0-0 draw.

Andover Town also bowed out, beaten 4-1 by Badshot Lea at the Portway.
