DYNAMO School of Gymnastics excelled at the Adrian Stan Team Championships.

Kelly Simm and the rest of Dynamo’s senior team finished fifth with an overall score of 139.40.

The competition doubled up as a World Championship trial for Kelly, who picked up second place overall.

Dynamo began by showing their improvement on the bars, with Tayah Askham scoring 10.40, Danielle Barnes 10.70 and Kelly 12.15 unfortunately taking a fall on her big routine.

Kelly also posted the team’s highest score on the beam (12.15), after successfully completing her new standing full twist.

Elise Blissett started the team off strongly with 11.55 on the floor, while Kelly posted 12.30 before finishing the competition with her highest score of the day on the vault (14.05), on which Danielle Barnes scored 12.30 and Olivia Essex 12.00.

The junior team competed the previous day at Surrey Sports Park,where they had the support of coaches Keith and Debbie Richardson, Kerri Beaven and Emma Beales.

For the majority of the junior team it was their first major event.

Team captain Isabelle Prinsep led from the front as the team finished the floor rotation with three clean routines, all putting out double back somersaults with confidence.

The highest score on floor came from 11 year old Molly Symonds (11.15).

The team also produced three clean somersault vaults, with the highest score from Isabelle Prinsep (11.75).

They also swung through three clean routines on the bars.

Bethan Light’s routine was much improved (9.50), with teammate Lila North posting 8.65.

The youngsters also posted three out of four clean routines on the beam.

Emma Glasspool started with a solid 10.60, with Molly Symonds (10.50) and Bethan Light (10.35) also impressing as the juniors finished with an overall score of 125.65 to finish 17th.

Head coach Debbie Richardson said: “It’s great to see the new generation coming through in true Dynamo style.

“It was a fantastic experience for both teams and the results show the hard work put in by the gymnasts and coaches.”

SEVERAL boys from Dynamo School of Gymnastics have qualified for the Southern Region team at this year’s national finals.

In the youngest age-group, Level 1 Elite, Jude Routledge earned bis place by finishing sixth with an all-around score of 50.50 at the Southern Region Qualifier in his first year of competitive gymnastics. Clubmate Daniel Jenner (43.37)was fourth.

Brandon Lynch took top spot in Level 2 with 58.99, ensuring he too qualified for the regional team.

He is joined by Level 4 gymnast Ashley Hassett, who was fourth with 46.60. Team-mate Joe-Lewis Back also qualified in fifth (45.20), while Sam Mould was eighth (38.00).

Dynamo’s most senior gymnasts competed at Level 6. Callum Archer won gold with 46.73 after top-three finishes on every apparatus.

Team mate Finley Hughes was second (28.98), so both gymnasts have a potential place in November’s regional team ahead after next month’s Performance Pathway Camp.
