AFC TOTTON got all three frontmen on the scoresheet in yesterday's 5-2 Evo-Stik Division One South success at Fleet Town.

Justin Bennett may be 36 and coming back from a year out injured, but the former Gosport goal-getter proved that old habits die hard as he fired the Stags into a 2-1 lead at Calthorpe Park.

With 16 minutes gone he headed down a long kick by new loan goalkeeper Adam Siviter before coolly firing home.

Meshach Williams briefly pulled Fleet level against the run of play before Bennett struck again, stooping to head in at the back stick after Jack Smith had nodded on a corner.

Eddie Perrett lashed in a far-post finish from a corner to make it 3-1 at half-time, before on-loan Eastleigh frontman Tom Bearwish got in on the act with his first goal for the club.

Siviter was unlucky to have an own goal awarded against him with Totton convinced that the ball had not crossed the line, but he needn’t have worried as Stuart Green’s cheeky back-heel finally got the ex-Salisbury man off the mark for his new club.

It followed a blocked shot from midfielder Ben McLean who, like Siviter, has joined the Stags on loan from Birmingham City.

Manager Louis Langdown reflected: “Two calm finishes from Justin got us where we wanted to be and the fact that the front three all scored was the biggest positive.

“Even then, we’ve missed chances. It was nice to score five, but it could have been ten.

“It looked like Stuart (Green) wasn’t going to get his goal. He had two one-one-ones that the keeper saved.

“He’s then popped up with a cheeky back-heel and celebrated for so long that I took him off!” he laughed.

Totton are up to seventh, while Fleet remain second-to-bottom with just one point.
