MATT Le Tissier is looking forward to joining forces with fellow Saints legend Mick Channon at O2 Guildhall Southampton.

Organised by 1976 FA Cup winner Jim McCalliog, the Legends of Football show will see Le Tissier and Channon discuss their illustrious careers together on November 8.

Le Tissier said: “I’m looking forward to it as I haven’t done too much with Mick down the years.

“It’ll be a good fun, we’ll have a good laugh. I’ve immersed myself in the club since I came here so my knowledge of its history is pretty good and Mick’s a massive character and a massive part of this club’s history.

“As a kid I obviously saw Micky play. If you said ‘Micky Channon’ to any kid growing up in the seventies they would automatically go ‘what a goalscorer’ and the celebration is one of those things that’s just iconic.

“I’m sure there’ll be quite a bit of banter during the evening because no doubt he’ll remind me that he’s the only person who’s scored more goals for Southampton than me! He normally brings that up but I’ve been working on an answer for him!

“It will be a nice nostalgic evening. We cover a huge span between us, from when Mick started in the Sixties through to 2002.

“Sadly we just missed playing alongside each other. That would have been fun - I just wish I had a bit of Mick’s pace!”
