DAN Munday hit irresistible form again for Bashley as they knocked Sydenhams Premier rivals AFC Portchester for six in the FA Vase first qualifying round.

The former Blackfield & Langley and AFC Totton striker weighed in with a hat-trick in a resounding 6-0 win that books the Foresters a trip to Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday week (September 15).

Bashley flew out of the blocks to take the lead after just one minute when Portchester keeper Tom Price did well to get behind Harrison White’s cannonball of a shot, but couldn’t hang onto it and Nasim Meddah pounced on the rebound.

Wing-back Jack Smith soon doubled that advantage before Munday opened his account ten minutes before the break with a header from a corner.

Portchester had a brief spell of pressure after the break, but it was short-lived.

Munday and Meddah each struck again – the latter with a cheeky lob over Price – before Munday rounded off his hat-trick by robbing the over-worked and poorly protected Price to strike from close range.

Romsey Town face a Wednesday night replay at Bridport (September 5) after being held to a pulsating 4-4 draw at the Bypass Ground.

It was 1-1 after 16 minutes with Romsey’s Jack Odam replying in kind after Mark Salter had put the Bees ahead from the penalty spot.

Odam and Indrit Elizi then seemingly put Town in the driving seat at 3-1, but Leighton Thomas and Salter struck twice in quick succession to force extra time.

Bridport went 4-3 up through Oscar Latas but that would have been cruel on Romsey and it was Pearce Farren who kept their Vase flame flickering with a fully-deserved leveller. Bridport boss Adam Fricker was honest enough to admit afterwards: “Take nothing away from Romsey we are lucky to still be in it.”

FA Cup heroes AFC Stoneham enjoyed yet another knockout success, coming back from behind to triumph 3-1 at Penn & Tylers Green.

The Purples slipped into arrears after 16 minutes at Amersham, but Sergio Caballero rectified matters five minutes later before Alex Welch weighed in with a match-winning double.

Stoneham entertain Petersfield Town in the Sydenhams One tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm), kicking off a momentous week for the Chestnut Avenue club.

As part of the build-up to Saturday’s huge FA Cup first qualifying round tie at home to Cirencester Town, the Football Association are bringing the trophy down to the Purples’ HP Arena home on Wednesday afternoon.

It’s a fairytale for Stoneham whose maiden FA Cup voyage coincides with the club’s centenary season.

Fawley AFC dragged themselves back from the edge of an FA Vase precipice to triumph 5-4 at Calne Town.

The Oilers, who had been 4-2 down with ten minutes to go, won through with goals from Mark Lilley, Harry Hawkins, Elliot Earl and Peter Southwick (2).

Fawley’s Dane Sayce tweeted: “Games like today is why I will never stop loving football.”

Totton & Eling also celebrated a great away day, coming from behind to win 3-2 at Oldland Abbotonians through Sam Vidler, Rory Woods and Joe Selby.

No such luck for Folland Sports, who exited 3-0 at Christchurch with Max Wilcock and Luke Stone (2) doing the damage.

Christchurch tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm) host Brockenhurst in the Sydenhams Premier Division at Hurn Bridge.

Lymington Town also fell behind against Portland United at Brockenhurst, but bounced back for a 4-2 win.

Two-goal Mike Gosney was joined on the scoresheet by Ashley Jarvis and Sam House.

Bemerton Heath, who host an FA Cup replay against Vase holders Thatcham Town tomorrow (Tuesday, 7.45pm), had to battle through extra-time to scrape past Hythe & Dibden in the FA Vase at Clayfields - Scott Hassell and Jamie Smith on target.

Alresford Town boss Richard Luffman was refreshingly honest after his Magpies side had side-stepped a banana skin at Richard Morse’s Ringwood Town.

Alresford scraped through a tough test 2-1 with Ryan Green and Mitch Speechley-Price netting either side of Lee Vint in a late goal rush.

Luffman tweeted afterwards: “Had I not been in our dugout today I’d have felt very sorry for Ringwood.

“They created the better chances and will be kicking themselves that they, at the very least, aren’t playing us on Tuesday in the replay.”

An added plus for the Magpies was a debut for summer signing Alex Dockree, who missed the start of the season through injury.

Ringwood had been due to visit Downton in Sydenhams One tomorrow evening, but the match has been postponed following the sad passing of Downton club stalwart Ian Drinkwater.

The Robins lost their FA Vase game 1-0 at Eversley & California on Saturday.

Team Solent (Silvano Obeng, Luke Bennett) made an early Vase exit, beaten 3-2 at home by Longwell Green Sports, but there were goals galore for Bournemouth Poppies who disconnected Bristol Telephones 8-0, led by Steve Flynn (3) and Michael Finch (2).

Hamworthy United also went goal crazy, beating Amesbury Town 5-0 through Sam Bayston, Jamie Filkins, Dan Cann (2) and Ed Hodge.

Fareham Town won a rollercoaster match 3-2 against Hallen in Gloucestershire thanks to goals from Gary Austin, Junior Kamara and Garry Moody.

The Creeksiders ended a somewhat fractious tie with ten men when sub Lamin Jatta was shown a second yellow card late on.

Brett Denham (2) and Dan Vickers ensured Tadley Calleva continued their impressive start to the season with a 3-1 home win over Ascot United.
