AFC STONEHAM are still in FA Cup dreamland after booking their ticket to the first qualifying round.

Having already disposed of one-league-higher AFC Portchester, Tim Cole's Purples – in their debut FA Cup season – brushed aside two-leagues-higher Westfield 2-0 at The HP Arena thanks to Will Harris's brace.

It was a truly stunning result - the biggest in the club's 100-year history.

“The magic of the FA Cup is alive and kicking and it’s a wonderful feeling,” beamed a thrilled Mark Stupple, chairman of the Sydenhams Wessex Division One club.

“The winners in the next round get £6,000 and that’s like Lottery money to us!

“Apart from the first 20 minutes, we matched Westfield, and the confidence we gained out of the game was massive.”

Sydenhams Premier outfit Shaftesbury also caused an FA Cup upset, beating Barnstaple Town 1-0 at Mill Road.

Josh Williams' first-half strike ensured Nick Ward's men advanced.

It was a special afternoon too for Lymington Town, who beat Frimley Green 2-0 at New Milton through brace man Ashley Jarvis.

Having missed a first-half penalty, Lymo’s set-piece maestro Mike Gosney missed the second half after being caught by a challenge which saw the Frimley offender red-carded.

Frimley lost their discipline and ended the game with nine players.

Dave Diaper’s 999th game in charge of Sholing ended in a 3-1 FA Cup win at US Portsmouth on Friday night.

Having forced an own goal, Jake Hoole netted Sholing’s second himself and Lee Wort polished off.

It was Wort's eighth goal of the season and maintained his record of scoring in every goal so far.

Horndean kept the Wessex flag flying with a 3-0 win at Ascot United.

Benny Read, Zach Glasspool and Harry Jackson saw the Deans safely through a bruising tie.

Bemerton Heath Harlequins fought out a 0-0 draw at FA Vase holders Thatcham Town. The replay is at Moon Park on Tuesday, September 4 (7.45pm).
