ALRESFORD Town’s 1-1 draw at Hamble Club was marred by a serious injury to summer signing Conor Whiteley.

The former Bashley frontman suffered a broken and dislocated ankle in a close encounter at the Hamble Community Facility.

Mark Gamble scored for Hamble with Ben ‘Chalky’ White keeping the Magpies in contention for a plum preliminary round tie at Salisbury.

Hamble boss Ben Kneller sportingly tweeted: “Football and rivalry aside, hope Conor Whiteley of @AlresfordTown is doing okay.

On behalf of everyone at the club, we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Kneller’s Monks could well have been out of sight in the first half, but injury-plagued Alresford improved after the break.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's replay (7.45pm) at Arlebury Park, Magpies manager Richard Luffman said: “We will need to be better Tuesday.

“If we play like we did in the second period, when we were on top for 20 mins, we’ll have more of a chance.

“We’ve got to wish our very young forward Conor Whiteley the very best. It’s a bad injury and we’re hoping the operation is successful.

“Conor is a top player and we’ll miss him for sure. He’s enthusiastic, bright and very good on the ball. He’ll be back.”

Brockenhurst face a replay at Christchurch tomorrow (7.45pm) after being held to a 2-2 draw at the Meadens Skoda Arena.

Will Tickle’s 35-yard wonder goal was overturned by a brace of James King penalties for Priory in the 24th and 64th minutes.

But Brock instantly levelled things up with a 66th-minute James Thomson effort that hit Christchurch skipper Kieran Douglas on its way in.

Lymington Town battled back from behind to force a 1-1 draw at Sandhurst Town of the Combined Counties Division One. Lymo hotshot Sam House cancelled out an opener from Sandhurst’s Paul Rake.

The replay will take place at New Milton Town’s ground on (Wednesday 7.45pm) with the winners hosting Frimley Green, who triumphed 2-1 at Fareham Town.

Aaron White was named man-of-the-match after an outstanding display in Shaftesbury’s 5-2 win at Wells City.

White bagged the second goal as the Rockies booked a trip to Barnstaple Town.

Adam Flint, Jack Mitchell, Josh Williams and Steve Smith also netted.
